Walking is generally light to moderate, mainly through Misfat Al Abriyeen and around viewpoints. The itinerary can be adjusted to suit your comfort level.
Temperatures can be significantly cooler than Muscat, particularly in winter and around sunset. Bringing a light jacket or warm layer is recommended.
Parts of the mountain route are steep or unpaved, and a 4WD is the appropriate vehicle for reaching Jabal Shams comfortably.
