Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Does this tour include the Balcony Walk?

No. This tour focuses on Jabal Shams viewpoints, mountain scenery and traditional villages. The Balcony Walk is a longer hiking experience that is better offered as a dedicated tour.

Is there much walking?

Walking is generally light to moderate, mainly through Misfat Al Abriyeen and around viewpoints. The itinerary can be adjusted to suit your comfort level.

How cold is Jabal Shams?

Temperatures can be significantly cooler than Muscat, particularly in winter and around sunset. Bringing a light jacket or warm layer is recommended.

Why do we use a 4WD?

Parts of the mountain route are steep or unpaved, and a 4WD is the appropriate vehicle for reaching Jabal Shams comfortably.

Is the tour suitable for children?

Generally yes. This sightseeing itinerary is suitable for families, although children should be supervised carefully around mountain viewpoints.

Can the itinerary change?

Yes. Mountain weather, road conditions and the pace of the group can affect the day's timing. Your guide may adjust stops or routing when appropriate.

Can I combine this with the Balcony Walk?

For a full Balcony Walk experience, a dedicated hiking itinerary is recommended because it requires substantially more time and physical activity.
