Licensed Omani tour guide
I’m an Omani tour guide based in Muscat and the person behind Your Oman Guide. I created it to offer a more personal way to experience Oman — private days, local context and enough flexibility to explore at your own pace. I enjoy showing visitors not only the landmarks, but also the places, food and stories that make Oman feel like home.
The Balcony Walk is a mountain hike on an exposed trail and requires reasonable fitness, balance and confidence with heights.
The hike involves uneven and rocky terrain with significant drops beside parts of the trail.
There is very little shade, so sun protection and sufficient water are essential.
The return journey is more demanding because much of it is uphill.
Jabal Shams can be considerably cooler than Muscat, especially during winter.
The hike may be shortened, changed or cancelled if weather or trail conditions make it unsafe.
This tour is not recommended for anyone with a serious fear of heights.
The hike is moderately challenging. The trail is not technically difficult, but it is rocky, exposed and requires several hours of walking, with more uphill walking on the return.
Allow approximately four to five hours for the walking portion at a comfortable pace, including stops. Actual timing depends on the group and conditions.
Technical hiking experience is not normally necessary, but you should have reasonable fitness, good balance and be comfortable walking on uneven mountain trails.
Probably not. Several sections follow an exposed mountainside with substantial drops and limited barriers.
No. As a private tour, the hike can be turned around earlier if necessary. Your guide will also assess the group's pace and conditions.
It depends on the child's age, hiking experience and confidence around exposed terrain. Please provide their ages and hiking experience before booking.
Safety comes first. The route may be shortened, changed or cancelled if rain, storms, poor visibility or other conditions make the trail unsuitable.
The Grand Canyon of Oman is primarily a sightseeing and village experience. This tour is built specifically around hiking the Balcony Walk.
