Your itinerary

Pickup in Muscat
Meet your guide at your hotel and leave Muscat for the coast.
Arrive at Wadi Shab
Cross the entrance by small boat and begin the walk into the wadi.
Wadi Shab hike
Follow the trail through the gorge, passing plantations, rock formations and increasingly dramatic mountain scenery.
Swimming pools
Reach the freshwater pools and cool off with a swim. Confident swimmers can continue deeper into the wadi when conditions are suitable.
Return hike
Walk back through the gorge and cross back to the parking area.
Lunch
Stop for a relaxed local lunch before continuing along the coast.
Bimmah Sinkhole
Visit the striking limestone sinkhole and learn about the geology of this part of Oman.
Coastal drive
Return towards Muscat with stops along the coast when time and conditions allow.
Return to Muscat
Drop-off at your hotel after a full day of hiking, swimming and exploring the coast.

This is an active tour involving hiking, swimming and walking over uneven and sometimes slippery terrain.
Swimming is optional, but reaching the deepest section of Wadi Shab requires swimming.
You should be comfortable in water if you plan to swim beyond the first pools.

Frequently asked questions
Do I have to swim?
No. You can enjoy the hike and scenery without completing the swimming section, although swimming is a major part of the full Wadi Shab experience.
Do I need to be a strong swimmer?
You should be a confident swimmer if you want to continue through the deeper pools towards the cave. Your guide will assess conditions on the day.
Can we always enter the cave?
No. Access depends on water levels, weather and safety conditions. The cave should be treated as an optional part of the experience rather than guaranteed.
Is the hike difficult?
The hike is moderate rather than technical, but it involves uneven rocks, warm temperatures and slippery surfaces near the water.
What should I wear?
Wear lightweight comfortable clothing for the hike and bring modest swimwear, suitable footwear, a towel and a change of clothes.
Is this tour suitable for children?
It can be suitable for active children who are comfortable hiking and swimming. Tell us the children's ages and swimming ability when enquiring so we can advise you.
Can the itinerary change?
